Richard A. Winkelman Sr. “Wink”

Richard A. Winkelman Sr. “Wink”, 83, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Ward) Winkelman and Patricia (Waters) Winkelman. Richard was born in the Bronx, the son of the late Robert and Jane (Cobey) Winkelman. He attended High School in the Bronx and then served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a jet engine specialist. Mr. Winkelman then attended the McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science in New York and became a Licensed Funeral Director in New York and Massachusetts. Wink began his Funeral Service career at the Frank E. Campbell- The Funeral Chapel in New York as the assistant Director. Richard directed the services for numerous dignitaries and movies stars. Wink then moved to Massachusetts and worked for J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Service as a Funeral Director and eventually a location manager in the Boston office. He was an honest, well respected Funeral Director who always made time to offer advice to colleagues. He was a member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks and Masonic Lodge also in Quincy. Richard truly cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Survivors are two sons: John R. Winkelman of Framingham, MA; Patrick M. Winkelman of Salisbury, MA; grandchildren: Zachary and Allison; great grandchildren: Ava and Colt; siblings Mary Ellen Winkelman of Clinton, MA a brother Robert Winkelman of Pearl River, NY along with several nieces and nephews; a daughter in law: Rhonda Winkelman of Westerly. He was the father of the late Command Sergeant Major Richard Winkelman. A Memorial Service for Richard will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:30am in the Star of the Sea Parish, 141 North End Boulevard, Salisbury, burial will be privately held at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne.
