Haverhill AMVets Post 147 And VFW Lorraine Post 29 To Host Christmas Party

Tuesday December 14, 2021

REGIONAL – Veterans can celebrate Christmas together for the first time this year from noon to 2 p.m. at the AMVets Post 147 and VFW Lorraine Post 29 in Haverhill on Dec. 23.

“With much excitement, a group of volunteers is happy to announce that there will be a Veteran Christmas Party happening a few days before Christmas,” announced local veteran Donnie Jarvis last week. “This Christmas Party is a free event that aims to bring local veterans and their guests together to meet other fellow veterans, make new friends, provide ongoing resources and support, while acknowledging their service to this great country.”

The event, sponsored by the Fusco family in memory and honor of Anthony J Fusco, will include a meal of ham, mac & cheese, green beans, dinner roll and assorted desserts. Anthony, who was always passionate about honoring the service of veterans, was active in the The Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport and was one of the original organizers of the annual Field of Honor in Newburyport, which displays more than 300 flags and honors those serving on active duty military personnel and first responders.

Since his passing, Anthony Fusco has been honored with the placement of Flag 1 in the first row of the annual display.

This Christmas Party at 576 Primrose Street in Haverhill is made possible by several different organizations, including Amvets post 147, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20, VFW Lorraine Post 29, Marine Corps League, Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 294, American Legion Post 4, Merrimack Valley Hope Mission, Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Veterans Northeast Outreach Center, Middlesex County Deputy Sheriffs Association, Middlesex Deputy Sheriffs Association, Winchester Knights of Columbus Council 210, Eammon’s Heart and Market Basket.

To contribute or if you need more information, contact Jarvis by email at jarvis.don@gmail.com or by phone at 978- 308-9186.

Registration is not required, but veterans who wish to confirm that they will be attending may leave a voice message at 978- 308-9186.
