WEST NEWBURY – Pentucket Superintendent Justin Bartholomew and Fine and Performing Arts Department Chair David Schumacher are pleased to share that Pentucket Regional Middle High School fine arts instructor Marcia Nadeau has been honored by the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA).
Nadeau – who has worked with the district for 28 years – was awarded the MAEA’s Distinguished Service Within the Profession Award.
The award is designed to recognize outstanding achievements, contributions, and service in previous years to the field of art education.
“I am honored to be among the recipients of the 2025 MAEA Awards,” Nadeau said.
During her tenure as Pentucket’s Department Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts, Nadeau began numerous community outreach efforts, bringing opportunities for her students and the community to engage in the arts.
She secured bus transportation to and from Mass College of Art & Design in Boston, offering enrichment at one of the oldest collegiate art schools in a city that serves as the cultural center of New England. Pentucket students participated in Saturday Studios, fueling their passions under the guidance of expert faculty and student teachers.
She also designed and installed “The Voice Within,” an interactive art exhibit where written exchanges of ideas connect community members and student artists. Last year, Nadeau offered what turned out to be a highly successful, multi-generational Community Art Club that met one night a week for six weeks at PRHS and culminated with an evening exhibit for the community.
“Congratulations to Marcia on this well-deserved honor,” said Schumacher. “We are lucky to have her as a dedicated and passionate member of the Performing Arts Department here at Pentucket.”
