NEWBURYPORT – The Newburyport Lantern Festival will be held this Saturday, June 28, at Bartlett Mall. Come launch a lantern in honor of a memory or hope for the future.
The annual festival, which promotes ovarian awareness cancer, begins at 6:30 p.m. with the decorating of the lanterns. There will be materials on hand for decorating, and calligraphers can help write a special message to include on the floating lantern.
The floating of the lanterns on the pond will begin at 8:30 p.m.
There will live music, and participants are encouraged to bring a chair and/or blanket. You may want to make it a picnic.
The organizers ask that you consider making a $10 donation for ovarian cancer awareness.
If it rains Saturday, the festival will be held on Sunday.
The festival is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the cultural councils of Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury. ♦
