The Newbury Town Library is turning 100 and invites the public to join the celebration on Saturday September 19th from 10 am to 2pm. The celebration marks the 100th year of the town of Newbury having a library and 25 years of the current library building. Public remarks will be made at 11am by Library Trustee Alexander Burke, Representative Kristin Kassner, and Senator Bruce Tarr. Light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Newbury Town Library will be served throughout the celebration. Crafts and activities for children will occur in the Children’s section, while the Adult section of the Library will showcase a timeline of the Library’s 100 years. Visitors will be able to choose a Surprise Party Book, while supplies last, to take home as well as enter to win a NTL mug or reading journal. At 1pm the 2001 Time Capsule will be opened and new contents will then be resealed into the time capsule to be opened in another 25 years. All are welcome and encouraged to explore the library throughout the day. The Newbury Town Library is located at 0 Lunt Street in Byfield.
