The Georgetown Affordable Housing Trust was established in 2009 for the preservation and creation of affordable housing in the Town. Kathy Sacks, a former selectman, was one of the founders to establish the town committee for this program.
The Trust has recently completed renovations on a three-bedroom house located at 79 Andover Street and is selling this house to a family that meet certain income and asset thresholds through a lottery process. Interested parties should contact the Trust for an application.

The Trust has also initiated a new real estate tax support program to help homeowners that meet certain income and asset limitations pay $500 of their real estate bills. [Out of the estimated 420 households in town that may be eligible for the program, approximately 30 households will be granted the $500 support, as the Trust has estimated a budget of $15,000 for this program year].
Income Limits:
1-person $74,7800; 2-person $85,450; 3-person $96,150; 4-person $106,800; 5-person $115,350, etc. The family household asset limit is $75,00 for a single, $150,000 for a couple, and $250,000 for applicants over the age of 65. Other restrictions apply.

The Trust is funded by annual grants from the Town through the Community Preservation Act [an additional tax imposed on each property owner in town] and through developer fees on certain new housing projects.
