BOXFORD − The Town of Boxford recently announced that Sean Donahue has joined the Town as its new Assistant Town Administrator/Finance Director.
Donahue brings more than 13 years of municipal government experience to Boxford. Most recently, he served as Human Resources Director for the Town of Reading, where he oversaw personnel and benefits administration, supported collective bargaining, managed departmental and employee-
benefit budgets, and prepared salary and personnel cost projections. He previously served as Assistant Town Administrator for the Town of Boxborough and held positions in the City of Lowell’s Human Relations and Treasurer’s offices.
Donahue earned a Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University, with a concentration in state and local government, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He also completed the Massachusetts Municipal Association-Suffolk University Municipal Finance Management Seminar.
“Sean has been with the Town for just over a month and has already made a meaningful contribution to our organization,” said Town Administrator Matthew Coogan. “His years of municipal experience and extensive knowledge of local government have enabled him to transition seamlessly into the position and immediately take on several important initiatives. We are excited to have Sean on our team, and I look forward to working together to advance the Town’s priorities.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Town of Boxford and serve the community in this role,” Donahue said. “Boxford has a strong record of sound financial management and dedicated public service. I look forward to working with Matt, the Select Board, Finance Committee, Town staff, and community partners to build on that foundation and help support the Town’s goals.”
Donahue succeeds Brendan Sweeney, who served as Boxford’s Assistant Town Administrator/Finance Director for four years before recently becoming Town Manager in Ipswich. The Town thanks Sweeney for his service to Boxford and wishes him continued success in his new position. ♦
