Georgetown’s Hometown Heroes Banner Program was a community initiative, led by local resident Jon Pingree who worked with the Georgetown Kiwanis place banners throughout the downtown to honor local veterans.
The program displays 2 ft. x 3 ft. banners on utility poles from May 1st through the end of November and spotlights local veterans with a link to Georgetown.
Banners are produced in minimum batches of five and the cost is $195 each. Banners are free for people who work for the town of Georgetown, or a relative killed in duty, or for those who cannot afford it.
The program “technically sunsets” after 2027 but could possibly be extended, depending on interest, donations, and funding.
