EAGLE SCOUT

Timothy Fionn Eagan

Son of Denise and Thomas Eagan

Topsfield, Mass.

Timothy Eagan is an 18 year old graduating senior of Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School. He plans to attend Saint Anselm’s College in the fall. He also hopes to join their cross country & track teams. On the advice of a friend, he joined Essex Tech’s cross country, indoor and spring track teams and continues to thoroughly enjoy these sports. He improved his 5k time from 27:43 to 18:50 minutes in his senior year. In track, Tim participates in the 800 meter and pole vault events for his team. Besides school, Tim enjoys music, either playing the violin and harmonica or singing. He has played the violin since 3rd grade. He has performed at several school events including the Hawk Holiday Hope charitable event, a collaboration with the Department of Children and Families of Salem, and the school’s culinary shop buffets. He also enjoys singing, as a parishioner at Mass or choir member. He faithfully attends Mass either at St. Adelaide’s Parish in Peabody and St. Rose of Lima in Topsfield.

Timothy joined troop 81 in 2019, where he made fast friends in the Panther patrol. In Panther, he learned to love camping and all that goes along with it. Tim’s first summer camp at Squanto was when he really warmed up to the troop, learning all of 81’s traditions and songs. Tim enjoyed his high adventure trek at Philmont in the summer of 2024. As Chaplin’s Aid, he loved being able to share the Holy Bible and its teachings. Tim’s favorite experience will always be the campfire during overnights: acting out skits, singing songs, and making chants about the current overnight. Scouting for Tim has been a major learning experience in his life. He is very grateful to both the adult leaders and the previous leadership who taught him leadership skills, life lessons, and helpful cooking tips.

SERVICE PROJECT

Timothy’s Eagle Scout Project was the construction of Stations for the Seven Sorrows of Mary. He built the stations for St. Adelaide’s Parish. Tim had seven kiosks built with the help of scouts and friends. The kiosks were mounted onto posts, and then the artwork of the Seven Sorrows was attached to the kiosks. These stations are an important spiritual tool, much like the Stations of the Cross. Now everyone is able to either look upon, or pray at these stations. ♦

EAGLE SCOUT

Grant Arthur Brunetti

Son of Cheryl and Robert Brunetti

Ipswich, Mass.

Grant Brunetti is a recent graduate of Clark School and is attending Bridgewater State University this fall for photonics engineering. Grant’s true passion is building and creating. Since he was able to walk, he has always had an affinity for innovation and has built a number of DIY projects including a hovercraft, a glove that shoots fire, and a high-power laser rifle.

Growing up, Grant focused his extracurricular activities on Martial Arts and scouting. Grant started studying martial arts in Taekwondo at the age of 7, achieved his third degree black belt in 2020, and continues on with mixed Martial Arts to this day.

Grant began his scouting journey in Illinois, where he started as a Tiger Scout with Pack 887. After achieving Arrow of Light, he crossed over to Troop 889, where he remained until he reached a rank of First Class. Upon moving to Ipswich with his family in 2021, Grant joined Troop 81 Topsfield where he completed his two biggest scouting goals: achieving the rank of Eagle and going on a high adventure trek at Philmont Scout Ranch. Grant has been fortunate to have found supportive and committed leaders in both of his scout troops, and has made lifelong friends with many of his fellow scouts.

SERVICE PROJECT

Grant’s Eagle Project was to build a flag disposal box for the town of Topsfield. When an American flag becomes degraded to a condition in which it is no longer fitting for display, people can bring it to the box for respectful disposal. A qualified organization such as the fire department, a veteran’s organization, or the BSA can dispose of it properly and respectfully.  Grant recognized this need soon after moving here because such boxes exist in many neighboring towns.  This community need was also recognized by Mr. Cullinan at the Topsfield Veterans Affairs office, who was also thinking of how to solve this problem.  As such, Grant’s project was enthusiastically supported by the town, for which they expressed great appreciation to both Grant and Troop 81.  ♦

EAGLE SCOUT

Liam Andrew Gruener

Son of Heather Ramsey and James Gruener

Topsfield, Mass.

Liam Gruener is an 18-year-old recent graduate of Masconomet Regional High School and has enlisted in the United States Army. He will be serving as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician and is scheduled to ship out to Fort Jackson, South Carolina this August for basic training, followed by nine months of advanced EOD training at various joint military bases. Liam is proud to carry the values of Scouting with him into his military service.

Liam began his scouting journey as a Tiger scout in Pack 81 of Topsfield and earned his Arrow of Light before crossing over into Troop 81. Over the years, he developed leadership skills, a commitment to service, and a love of the outdoors. He has been a member of the Gordon Rowing Association for five years, participating in its middle school and high school varsity programs. He has also competed in national and international regattas, gaining discipline, perseverance, and a love for early morning workouts.

Outside of scouting and rowing, Liam worked as a Dairy Clerk at Market Basket, and has spent two summers working full time for a local landscaper, and part time with a general contractor in Ipswich. These roles helped him build practical trade skills, but also valuable lessons on time management.

Liam’s favorite scouting experience was participating in the Philmont Scout Ranch trip, where he made lasting memories. He learned the value of being physically and mentally prepared for challenges, and working on a team. He also enjoyed summers at Camp Squanto and annual overnight canoe trip on the Saco River.

Liam is grateful to his family, Scout leaders, and Troop 81 for their support throughout his journey. He is honored to join the ranks of Eagle Scouts and looks forward to carrying the spirit of Scouting into life’s next chapter.

SERVICE PROJECT

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Liam designed and built an information kiosk and a bench at the Bare Hill Pump Track Park located off Route 97. The kiosk provides important safety guidelines and rules for park visitors, promoting responsible and informed use of the space while improving its overall accessibility and function. ♦
