Cantemus Is Seeking Tenors and Basses, including one High School Student
Cantemus Chamber Chorus, with 34 members from across the North Shore, is looking for experienced Tenors and Basses to join the group in the spring.
They also have one opening for a high school-age Tenor or Bass in their Choral Interns program. The student will rehearse weekly and perform with the group. This is a paid position, or the student may earn community service credits.
Artistic Director Jason Iannuzzi will hear auditions by appointment on January 9 beginning at 6:30 pm (or by arrangement) at Miles River Middle School in Hamilton, where the group rehearses Tuesday evenings. Interested singers can find more information about the chorus at www.cantemus.org, and contact info@cantemus.org to make an audition appointment.
Cantemus will present its winter concert, Anneleis, a large-scale choral work based on excerpts from Anne Frank’s “Diary of a Young Girl,” on January 20 in Newburyport and January 21 in Swampscott. Details at cantemus.org/concerts.
New chorus members will join the group for their spring concerts on May 11 in Beverly and May 12 in Newburyport. The program, “Love Is Love Is Love,” will feature songs about love in all its forms: love between a parent and child, romantic love, love in friendship and love for all humankind.
All Cantemus members are required to be vaccinated for Covid-19. Masks are optional, subject to change.
