ROWLEY – One of the most popular venues for people to get married on the North Shore is now hosting Farm to Table Dinners featuring local farm produce and fun chefs in an ambiance of a farm restored to its 17th century glory.
The Barn at Bradstreet Farm, the second oldest, continuously operating farm in America, is partnering with The Farmers Dinner to bring a farm-to-table dinner series this August through October.
“I’m excited because local people tell me they want to see what we’ve done here,” Michael Sabatini, who with his wife Michele Faulkner, is only the second owner of the seven-acre farm. “All our private events are farm-to-table, and we’ve been wanting to host a public community dinner series for a while now. Locals have been clamoring for this.”
The Barn at Bradstreet Farm hosted 50 weddings last year and 40 this year, which Faulkner said was about the right number.
Sabatini said the Farmers Dinner is the perfect partner to host the Farm-to-Table Dinners. “The Farmers Dinner produces fantastic events and provides a suburb dining experience. We’re very excited to kick this off!” he said.
Four dinners are scheduled for Sundays, Aug. 20, Aug. 27, Sept. 24 and Oct. 29.
Each dinner will feature multiple courses that showcase the best of Rowley area farms, including Chickadee Farm and Herrick Farm in Rowley as well as Tendercrop Farm in Newbury and Marini Farm in Ipswich. Each menu from the entre to dessert to the wines will vary depending on the produce picked that season.
A quintet of talented local chefs will prepare the meal and provide the entertainment, which Faulkner said will be a Julia Childs-like experience with the chefs inviting diners to help with the cooking.
A cash bar will feature local craft beer from Anonymous Brewing and wine from Mill River Winery. The grapes will come from Bradstreet’s own vineyard, which was planted last year. Mill River has created a Bradstreet label, the Marquette.
Sabatini is particularly excited to serve the farm’s own sangria made with wine and fruits from the farm and other local farms.
“When you work with the best, it produces the best experience,” Sabatini said.
Tickets are $120 for general admission. The barn at 239 Main St. in Rowley can seat 120 for dinner.
There is also a Gold VIP dinner option offering a private tasting of the first batch of wines from the farm, plus a charcuterie, cheese and crackers board for $150.
The Platinum VIP tickets will include a private golf cart-tour of the farm, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, plus the private wine tasting and charcuterie, cheese and crackers board.
