REGIONAL – With warm weather just around the corner, it’s time to consider taking a boating or kayaking safety course.
If you have wanted to learn Tai Chi because your doctor says movement is medicine, how to create jewelry from sea glass collected on the beach or to raise chickens, the spring classes of Newburyport Adult & Community Education are about to start.
Fulfilling its mission of fostering life-long learning for adults of all ages, the popular program is offering dozens of courses that range from how to clean up the Merrimack River to listening to the stars in a course on radio astronomy.
There are courses on art and poetry, including a session on four Harlem Renaissance poets and learning to paint. You can learn to sell on eBay or make your own voice overs.
The Newburyport Adult & Community Education program is affiliated with the Newburyport schools, but is self-sustaining and is not supported by taxpayers.
The opportunities to learn something new are almost endless. The easiest way to join the excitement is to register online at www.newburyportadulted.org or contact Patty St. John, director at pstjohn@newburyportadulted.k12.ma.us.
