GEORGETOWN − Alan Aulson,
who has led the restoration efforts of The Gardens at Georgetown, has invited all members of the community to join together at The Gardens Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. on Andover Street (past the golf course).
Aulson has rallied members of the Georgetown American Legion, Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus, and many businesses and individuals to restore the overgrown, mostly abandoned garden areas to working conditions.
In addition to the fun neighbors had watching goats from the Aulson family’s Goats-to-Go brush-clearing business, Aulson arranged for the clearing of debris, old metal fencing, posts, and materials from the former gardens.
After the dense bittersweet vines and other overgrowth were nibbled and snacked on by the goats, tractors from the Aulson family’s Great Rock Farm made quick work of removing rusted metal posts and fencing. Volunteers joined prisoners from the Essex County Sheriff’s Pre-Release Center to then remove and clear away what amounted to 30 truckloads of fencing, wire, metal posts, containers, rotted wood, pots, ground covering fabric, and other debris.
The brief Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is Aulson’s way of thanking all who have been a part of helping restore this treasure to the community. ♦
