Show your library some love for Valentine’s Day
Georgetown residents will be receiving a special invitation in their February electric bills from the Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library. It’s an invitation to participate in the Friends’ Annual Appeal, the yearly outreach to the town for donations to support the Georgetown Peabody Library.
According to the letter, every donor who supports the Library is a Friend, someone who can make a difference for one of the most important resources in the community. “Support from the Friends allows the Library to go beyond our core funding to offer engaging programs and expanded resources for residents of all ages.
Every donation to the Annual Appeal truly makes a difference, and we are thankful for the continued commitment of our Friends,” says Sarah Cognata, Library Director.
Those who wish to donate can send a contribution by mail, using the slip in the Annual Appeal letter, or can donate online by scanning the QR code on the letter. The Friends’ mailing address is 2 Maple St., Georgetown, 01833.
For those residents who get their bills online, you can view the Annual Appeal letter on the Friends page on the Library web site (www.georgetownpl.org).
The Friends is a nonprofit organization that helps raise funds to support library resources, technology, and programs not funded by the town. These include summer reading programs; museum passes; concerts, and take-home kits. The Friends also assist with new library improvements, such as the bookshelves recently installed in the Library lobby. In addition to the Annual Appeal, the Friends raise funds through twice-yearly book sales, the Library book nook, and events like Books in Bloom.
