BEVERLY – Montserrat College of Art recently announced three new board members and a new board chair who will help guide the nonprofit educational institution widely recognized for equipping students from across the country with the tools, hands-on experiences, and cutting-edge technology needed for successful careers in art, design and other creative fields.
Oliver Parker, a respected business executive and entrepreneur, has been unanimously elected Chairman of Montserrat’s Board of Trustees. Parker, who previously served as Trustee, will lead the 16-person board as the Beverly, Massachusetts-based college launches a number of new programs and initiatives, and redoubles the school’s student-centered approach.
“Montserrat is a college where ideas flourish and students find their voice,” said Parker. “It’s a privilege to serve this remarkable organization at such an exciting time, as we build new opportunities and shape a vibrant future together.”
A seasoned business leader, Parker brings operational planning, financial management, marketing communications, and brand strategy expertise to his new role.
“Ollie is a longtime advisor who has offered his time, insights, and wise counsel to Montserrat,” said the college’s president, Brian Pellinan. “A pragmatic leader and innovative strategist, Ollie is well-positioned to help Montserrat evolve, expand, and achieve sustainable success.”
Parker is the owner of Sistine Solar, a Boston startup founded by MIT alumni that is changing solar technology. He is also at the helm of Speedpro Boston North, one of the region’s top large-format digital printing companies.
Parker’s extensive background in corporate settings also includes stints at Orchard Brands, Macrovision, Millipore, PwC (formerly Coopers & Lybrand).
An active and engaged volunteer, Parker serves both nonprofit and educational organizations. In addition to Montserrat, he has served on the board of directors for Kieve-Wavus Education Inc. and both the Pingree and Brookwood Schools.
The new board members who began their three year terms on July 1 are Brian Bicknell, Chief Operating Officer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, Maren Oslund, a behavioral health counselor, and Hilly Ebling, an executive with extensive experience in the financial services sector.
“All three of these board members have been associated with Montserrat over the years, with each demonstrating an exceptional commitment to our students,” said Pellinen. “Brian served our community as both our Dean of Students and Interim Dean of Admissions while Maren, who is married to an alum, has long been an ambassador for the school in her own right. And Hilly is returning to the board having ably served for more than a decade. I am delighted to welcome Brian, Maren, and Hilly back to the Montserrat community and look forward to partnering with them as we work to advance our mission, vision, programs, and priorities.”
