Triton Donor Receives MASC Award

Wednesday March 26, 2025

BYFIELD, NEWBURY, ROWLEY, SALISBURY (Triton School District) – The Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) has awarded local businessman John Weston the Outstanding School Part-ner Award for last year.
At the School Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 12, the award, which honors those who con-tribute meaningfully and significantly to student well-being, was given to Weston.
Weston’s efforts funded a free instrumental music program in all three Triton elementary schools after the music program saw a decline in participation during the Covid pandemic.
Through Weston’s efforts, 4th grade students in the district developed a love of music and took part in instrumental participation again.
In addition to sponsoring new initiatives ranging from technology to the arts, Weston, who had two sons graduate from Triton, has donated $50,000 to Triton schools over the last five years. When looking for ways to give back to Triton, he talked with Supt. Brian Forget.
“John’s generosity has made such a meaningful impact on our students,” Forget said. “As a former mem-ber of the District Technology Committee, John has been contributing to our school for decades, and amazingly, he has committed to continuing his support for years to come.”
Weston has pledged to continue his commitment, and his actions have encouraged further generosity in the community. With a matching donation partnership with ICL Auto Group, owned by the Jesperson Family, the fourth-grade music instrument program will remain free for students indefinitely, including instrument rentals. ♦
