NEWBURY – The Town of Newbury is pleased to share that Select Board Member Geoffrey H. Walker was named to AgeSpan’s 50 over 60 list.
Geoffrey Walker has had a pivotal role in the Town of Newbury for over 20 years. He served on various municipal boards including the Planning Board, and Conservation Commission, and has served on the Select Board since 2009.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, AgeSpan, located in Lawrence and Danvers, is recognizing seniors in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore whose lives inspire others. The 50 Over 60 List showcases people aged 60 and over from across the region who motivate us through their positive attitudes, healthy aging, intergenerational experiences, community service, activism, advocacy and caregiving.
Walker, 77, was recognized for being a trusted mentor within Newbury and for his passion for environmental sciences. When he is not working in the town, Walker enjoys motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and expressing his artistic abilities by creating hand-carved duck decoys.
“Geoffrey is truly an influential member of the community, and it is wonderful to see him receive recognition for his dedication to the town and its residents,” said Town Administrator Tracy Blais. “He is the kind of small-town resident who always puts the needs of the community first.”
The Town of Newbury would like to congratulate Walker on this wonderful recognition.
