Community Forums for Action on City’s Climate Resilience
Forums Will Provide Insights into the City’s Climate Action Plans and Opportunities for Citizens to Engage in Future Resilience Efforts
Newburyport – The City of Newburyport Resiliency Committee invites the public to participate in the upcoming “Community Forums for Action.” The forums will be focused on enhancing local understanding of and action against climate risks.There will be four sessions each with the same content.
Mayor Sean Reardon highlights the importance of community involvement in addressing climate change in Newburyport, saying, “Climate change is already affecting Newburyport residents, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to learn more and contribute to our plans for mitigating its impact. We have such an engaged and active community, and I look forward to seeing high participation at these events.”
The forum sessions are scheduled for:
Tues, April 30, 2023, at 6:30 pm – Newburyport Senior/Community Center
Mon, May 6, 2023, at 1:00 pm – PITA Hall, Plum Island
Tues, May 7, 2023, at 6:30 pm – Newburyport Senior/Community Center
Tues, May 21, 2023, at 9:00am – Horton Terrace Community Center, Newburyport
The hands-on, interactive forums will provide participants with insights into Newburyport’s climate action plans and offer opportunities to contribute to shaping our city’s future resilience strategies. Each event will cover the local impacts of climate change, discuss ongoing and planned projects, and explore how residents can get involved.

About the Community Forums for Action
The Community Forums for Action are designed to be interactive and informative, with the goal of making climate resilience a top priority in Newburyport. By involving local citizens, the Resiliency Committee hopes to foster a proactive community atmosphere where ideas and solutions can emerge organically.
“We are at a critical juncture where community involvement is absolutely necessary,” said Jane Healey, the chair of the Newburyport Resiliency Committee. “These forums are a great opportunity for residents to get up to speed on the issues and leave knowing how we all can work toward a more sustainable and resilient future for Newburyport. We hope residents join their neighbors in making a difference.”
