NEWBURYPORT — Enjoy the energetic fun of a Quebecois Saturday night kitchen party when the popular Le Vent du Nord, whose rhythmic and soulful music have charmed North Shore audiences several times before, are back this month to close out the Belleville Roots Concert Series for 2022.

The highly regarded and award-winning band is a guiding force in Quebec’s Francophone folk movement. Since it launched in 2002, the group has enjoyed rapid success, performing at more than 2,000 concerts over four continents. It has won several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Félix at ADISQ, a Canadian Folk Music Award and Artist of the Year at Folk Alliance Annual Gala.

The concert is at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Belleville Church, 300 High St., Newburyport.

On stage, the band, composed of five friends – Simon Beaudry, Nicolas Boulerice, Andre Brunet, Rejean Brunet and Olivier Demers — create intense, joyful and dynamic live performances. The group’s vast repertoire is rooted in the Celtic diaspora and enhanced with a broad range of global influences.

Would you like to be a roots volunteer? The Roots Steering Committee is looking for volunteers to help produce the concert series. Help is needed with promotion, postering, planning, backstage and bartending. If interested, email bellevilleroots@gmail.com.

The concert organizers try to keep performers, staff, volunteers and audience safe from disease while attending our performances. Local and state regulations are monitored and revised as needed. Follow on Facebook and visit our website, bellevilleroots.org, for up-to-date information.

Belleville roots depends on the kindness and generosity of the local business community and individuals to help us bring artist to Newburyport and keep ticket prices affordable. All proceeds benefit the maintenance of the historical buildings.
