TOPSFIELD — Brandon Wood of Warren, Massachusetts stands as part of his strategy in the 4th annual Topsfield Fair Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday, October 1st. It paid off as Wood beat fifteen other contestants and set a new record by eating 10 quarter-pound hot dogs (the equivalent of 20 standard hot dogs) in buns in the allotted 7-minute time period. The previous record was set by Pete Davekos of Danvers who ate 9 ½ quarter-pound hot dogs in last year’s contest. Wood received $204 (to celebrate the 204th Topsfield Fair) from the Bnai Brith Booth which sponsored the contest.
