Wednesday December 22, 2021

Danvers Northeast Arc, a not-for-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities become full participants in the community, has elected Carolina Trujillo, Dr. Dan Randall, and Mariela Fermin its Board of Directors.

Fermin is an executive healthcare consultant that advises managed care companies and healthcare startups.  She has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry leading managed care programs that serve underserved, disabled, and aging individuals as well as in the provider space.  Prior to working as a consultant, Fermin was Chief Strategy Officer at Independent Living Systems and previously served Chief Operating Officer at Amerigroup New York.

“I have long admired the incredible work that Northeast Arc does to help individuals with disabilities achieve equity, independence and community integration.   It is an honor to have been invited to serve and I am happy to bring my experience in government programs to the Northeast Arc board of directors to ensure some of our most vulnerable citizens are getting the best programs and services available,” said Mariela Fermin.  “I’m also looking forward to supporting such an engaged women-led organization that stands as one of the most innovative in the field.”

Like Fermin, Dan Randall, M.D., of Salem has a wealth of healthcare experience.  Randall is currently the Deputy Editor, Internal Medicine, Dynamed at EBSCO. He has had several positions in the medical field, including Site Chief of Internal Medicine at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, Hospitalist at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, and Emergency Room Attending Physician at Grandview Hospital.

“Personally and professionally, I’ve witnessed the extra challenges faced by people with developmental disabilities and their families,” said Dan Randall.  “Northeast Arc doesn’t just help fill some of the gaps, they constantly innovate and use feedback to try to best serve their clients’ needs.”

Carolina Trujillo of Lynn is Vice President, Volunteer Engagement Director, at the Eastern Bank Foundation where she is responsible for leading the efforts in maintaining a strong culture of employee volunteer engagement.  She previously served in leadership roles at Essex Media Group, Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts, Joslin Diabetes Center, and the Latin American Health Institute.

“It’s a great honor for me to join the Northeast Arc’s board of directors,” said Carolina Trujillo.  “The organization represents the gold standard in innovation of care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, however, there’s still more to be done for minority communities facing these same challenges. I hope that through my involvement we can expand the mission of including those communities that have been historically underserved and marginalized.”

“Carolina, Mariela, and Dan will be great additions to our board of directors,” said Mike Foraste, Board Chair, Northeast Arc.  “We look forward to the unique perspectives they will each bring to the organization.”
