STANDALONE PROGRAMS:

Tuesday, November 2nd at 7 pm: Clara Barton: a One Woman Play by Sheryl Faye (IN PERSON). Join living performer Sheryl Faye as she brings the remarkable story of Clara Barton to life.

Saturday, November 13th at 3 pm: Powow River Poets Poetry Reading (IN PERSON). The poets reading this month are Chris O’Carroll and Al Basile. Arrive early to sign up for open mic.

Tuesday, November 16th at 7 pm: Compost 101 (VIRTUAL). Did you know you can recycle all your kitchen scraps and yard waste, and turn it into beneficial food for your plants? The experts at Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens will explain it all, from the “how to” to the “how much”. (Rescheduled from October)

NOVEMBER SERIES:

MEDITATION FOR WELLNESS (VIRTUAL). Join Registered Yoga and Meditation teacher Ree Coleman for this four-part virtual series on meditation and wellness with a focus on healing from surgery and other ailments. Using Peggy Huddleston’s Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster: A Guide to Mind-Body Techniques, Ree will lead participants in meditation focusing on a specific body system or disorder.

Monday, November 1st at 10 am: Session One: How to Reduce Pain & Speed Healing.

A Guide for Mind-Body Techniques™ follows five-steps to reduce anxiety, headaches, chronic pain and feel calmer to allow the body and mind to deeply relax for maximum restorativeness.

Monday, November 8th at 10 am: Session Two: Reducing Anxiety and Insomnia. Heal Faster: A Guide for Mind-Body Techniques™ follows five-steps to reduce anxiety and insomnia teaching the body and mind to deeply relax allowing restorative peaceful rest and sleep.

Monday, November 15th at 10 am: Session Three: Prepare For Surgery, Heal Faster. Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster: A Guide for Mind-Body Techniques™ follows five-steps to reduce anxiety, headaches, chronic pain, lesson side effects of stress, improve sleep and feel calmer during any medical procedures like biopsy, endoscopy, cardiac cauterization, MRI or surgery.

Monday, November 22nd at 10 am: Session Four: Chemotherapy and Radiation. Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster: A Guide for Mind-Body Techniques™ following five-steps to reduce anxiety, headaches, chronic pain, lesson side effects of chemotherapy, improve sleep and feel calmer during any medical procedures like receiving chemotherapy or radiation.

 PRESERVING YOUR PAST:

Tuesday, November 9th at 7 pm: Preserving Your Past – An Introduction to Collections Care. Session One – “An Introduction to Collections Care” (VIRTUAL).

This first session will lay the foundation for saving your family heirlooms. Participants will come away with an understanding of how to protect family collections and save them for future generations.

Tuesday, November 30th at 7 pm: Preserving Your Past – Tips on Stewarding Family Collections. Session Two – “Tips on Stewarding Family Collections” (VIRTUAL).

This second session will review good practices for storing and handling your family heirlooms and papers. Participants will come away knowing how to store family photos, papers, and other heirlooms. 

 VIRTUAL programs require registration to get the Zoom link. People can register online via the library website events calendar or by calling 978-465-4428 x242. 

IN PERSON programs require masks. No registration is necessary for in person programs. 

 Book Groups:

Wednesday, November 3rd at 2:00 pm: Next Chapter Book Group (IN PERSON at the Senior Center). Next Chapter Book Group (formerly Retired Readers) meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the Senior Center. This month we will be discussing “Miracle Creek” by Angie Kim. No registration necessary.

Wednesday, November 10th at 6:30 pm: Fiction Book Group (VIRTUAL*). This month we will be discussing “The Book of V” by Anna Solomon. Register by calling 978-465-4428 x242.

Tuesday, November 16th at 5:00 pm: Just the Facts: Nonfiction Book Group (VIRTUAL*). This month we will be discussing “Northland: A 4,000-Mile Journey along America’s Forgotten Border” by Porter Fox. Register online via the library website events calendar or by calling 978-465-4428 x242.

 Other ongoing programs:

Tuesdays 8:00 am: Yoga and Mindfulness (VIRTUAL). Improve your physical and mental well-being by joining Registered Yoga Teachers Jessalynn Hudgins and Ree Coleman for yoga and mindfulness practice. Classes will be held online for the rest of the winter. No registration is necessary. The Zoom link and meeting ID can be found on the library website https://www.newburyportpl.org/ 

Wednesdays at 2:30 pm: Movie Matinee (IN PERSON). Titles are posted on the library website. Masks are required.
