Boxford based Community Giving Tree Opens New Giving Center in Lawrence

Monday September 06, 2021

Lawrence – Community Giving Tree will be opening a new location in the Merrimack Valley region to further its mission to help local families. Their new facility, at 60 Island Street, Lawrence is a giving center where social workers and other partners can shop for free gently used children’s clothing and baby equipment to distribute to their clients in need. These items have been donated, cleaned and organized by Community Giving Tree volunteers and staff. The new facility will better serve social service agencies, increase community awareness, and expand volunteer resources to better meet the needs of local children and their families that live in communities with high rates of poverty in Northeastern Massachusetts.

Coming off of a year bound with COVID restrictions, this new Giving Center will increase the accessibility of items that families with children are in need of and donated by the surrounding communities bridging the gap between donors and those in need. Community Giving Tree will share space with the Neighbors in Need non-profit organization, whose mission is to fight hunger locally by distributing healthy food at Food Pantries strategically located in the neighborhoods of Greater Lawrence. Neighbors in Need also helps families with diaper needs by providing them infant formula, diapers & other necessities. “We welcome, Community Giving Tree, to 60 Island Street. We are so excited to partner with them in creating a space where Lawrence social workers have easy access to everyday essentials for children, “ commented Linda Zimmerman, Executive Director from Neighbors in Need.

“Alongside Neighbors In Need, we can better serve our partners to carry out our goal of providing children’s clothing and essential items, such as cribs and car seats, to families living under the poverty level in Lawrence and surrounding communities,” said Kim Goulette, Community Giving Tree’s Executive Director. “Funneling the gently used and recycled resources that our organization receives will be easier in this strategic location.”

Rooted in Generosity. The mission of Community Giving Tree is to help low-income families in northeastern Massachusetts raise healthy children by providing recycled clothing, baby equipment, and other basic necessities.
