NEWBURYPORT — Our Biggest Musical Yet!!!

Get your tickets to the hottest show in town! The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive “Springtime for Hitler”), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.

Winner of the most Tony Awards in history, The Producers runs June 10 – July 17 on the Institution for Savings Main Stage at the Arakelian Theater.

For the Young and the Young at Heart…

Produced by The Actors Studio of Newburyport/Acting Out Productions

It’s just another day at Miss Nitwitty’s School for Girls…. Or is it? Miss Nitwitty is in a tizzy (known at the school as WittyTizzy) because the school mascot, her Teddy Bear Bunky, is missing! Whooooodidit? That’s the mystery crackerjack private eye Sam Spaid is hired to solve. Are the culprits the ladies from the basketball team, or the girls from the theatre class? Or are the pernicious perpetrators the lads from the Lawrence J. Fine School for Boys? The only way to find out is to see THE GREAT NITWITTY MYSTERY…Thirty six talented student actors will join two adult actors to reveal Whooooodidit!

The World of Dr. Seuss Brought to Life…

Fun for the whole family, the world of beloved Dr. Seuss comes to life!

Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

All shows will take place at Heritage Park in Amesbury, MA.

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 6:30 PM.
