Wilfred “Will” C. Budd, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Born December 9, 1947, in Ipswich, Massachusetts, Will was the son of H. Clark and Lillian (Searles) Budd. Will grew up in Rowley with his parents and his sisters, June and Charlotte. As a young man, he worked with his father on the family farm. After marrying his wife Aleta in 1972, Will worked in a number of different fields – as a farmer, a bus driver for the Town of Rowley, and as a diesel/fleet mechanic. Will had a knack for seeing the potential in unusable things. He took pride in restoring cars and other machines that no longer worked and bringing them back to working order. He had a mechanically inclined mind that could quickly troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues on anything with a motor or gears. He could often be found fixing the hydraulics on a tractor, re-welding mounting brackets on a friend’s pickup, or replacing the carburetor on someone’s walk-behind tiller. To Will, nothing was a lost cause — it was a challenge to overcome. He was selfless to a fault and never thought of any task that needed to be accomplished as being beneath him.
Above all else, Will cherished his faith and his family. He dedicated many years of service as a deacon and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rowley. Will often expressed his immense gratitude for the blessings and gentle care provided by his heavenly Father throughout his journey. Family brought Will great joy, especially his grandchildren. He cherished the moments spent watching them celebrate Christmas and frequently traveled to cheer them on at sporting events and school performances. At every family gathering, without fail, the youngest grandchild would inevitably find a cozy spot right on Papa’s lap.
Will is survived by Aleta, his wife of fifty-four years: daughter Lisa Martin and husband Brent (Philadelphia, PA); daughter Lynnette Lovasco and husband Peter (Boxford, MA); daughter Jennifer Stevens and husband Jason (Bedford, NH); son Harry and wife Melissa (Farmingdale, ME); and son Clark and wife Jessica (Stafford Springs, CT). He is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren: Matthew Poulin, Lael Martin, Kyle Lovasco, Jaden Martin, Ryan Lovasco, Ava Constantine, Isabel Constantine, Katelynn Lovasco, Ashley Budd, Sophia Budd, Noah Martin, Hazen Budd, Julyssa Lovasco, Audrey Budd, Giovanni Lovasco, Zackery Lovasco, and Will Budd. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Ethan Budd.
