NEWBURY, MA − The Town of Newbury invites community members to help shape a future trail connection between Byfield Center and the Newburyport MBTA Station through two upcoming public open houses for the Border to Boston Trail Northern Newbury Segment Study.
An in-person open house will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Newbury Town Library, Community Room, 0 Lunt Street in Byfield. Community members may stop by anytime during the two-hour event.
A virtual open house will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM via Zoom. Register here to attend.
Community members are invited to review project information and share their ideas through interactive activities. Attendees will be invited to add comments to maps of the study area, identify priorities for comparing potential trail routes, share their vision for the trail, and highlight destinations they would like it to connect. Input from this first round of public engagement will help inform the development and evaluation of potential trail routes. A second round of public engagement later in the study will give community members an opportunity to review route alternatives and comment on their trade-offs.
