TOPSFIELD − Wood Lancaster of Topsfield now holds the Topsfield Fair record for the largest Giant Pumpkin grown in Massachusetts. Lancaster’s pumpkin topped the scales at 2,598 lbs. at the 42nd annual All New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. The record had been set last year by Alex Noel of Abington, Connecticut whose pumpkin weight 2,507 lbs.
Lancaster won over $10,000 in prize money for his accomplishment.
The winning pumpkin was moved to the Fruit and Vegetable Barn where it will be on display for the run of the Fair.
The four runner-up pumpkins will be on display under a tent in the barnyard. The Topsfield Fair runs through Monday,
October 12th. ♦
