The Council on Aging provides the following services/activities:
Fitness – Yoga 2x weekly, chair yoga, Zumba, Tia chi, meditation, bocce, and pickleball.
Support groups – Caregiver support, for dementia, sponsored by Karen Coppola, a certified dementia practitioner. The COA also offers a monthly grief support group. and a living alone support group.
Social & Recreational – Quilting, crafts, knitting, group games, stamp club, modeling, tech classes, speakers, and performances; men’s breakfasts, and last year’s favorite: “Guns and Hoses Chili Cook-Off”.
Veterans – Beteran’s coffee social, monthly. Veteran’s gallery the month of November, offering breakfast/
luncheon for our vets of all ages!
Social services: Important services; individual support, info and referral services! Assistance with accessing public benefits, (snap, fuel assistance, etc.), financial benefits, social security, referrals. Please call, to have them assist directly, or refer to appropriate agencies/services!
The council partners with AARP provide free tax assistance for low and moderate income individuals/families; as a regionally-based program, Georgetown residents have a priority registration window.
Kristin, our SHINE counselor, is able to provide assistance for Medicare beneficiaries, This program saved our residences tens of thousands of dollars each year!
The COA works closely with other town departments, i.e. police, fire, Board of Health, housing, and assessors to help meet the needs of our seniors!
Transportation: A van, taxpayer-funded and run through meva.net provides transportation.

Vaccine Clinic and Health Fair: Wednesday, October 14th!
Medicare open enrollment: October 15th through December 7th.

Please donate tuna, soups, canned veggies, pb, jelly, jams. Ensure/Boost is extremely needed for our seniors!!! Healthy snacks, cereal/oatmeal, tea, coffee, and canned fruit! Financial donations, as well as gift certificates are so important to fill the pantry!! Please donate, what you can, everything helps!!!
