BOXFORD – Robert and Nancy King spruced up the welcoming signs to the King’s Tree Farm and Nursery in West Boxford this past weekend.
I stopped and asked Robert what was up, and he explained how he and his wife Nancy had just given the old signage a facelift. Robert, who is the son of Dick King who passed away a bit more than a year ago, was raking the area around the scenic, winding entrance road to the farm. For more than 40 years, his dad has thrilled local familes and schoolchildren with the unique nature of his farm/nursery. School field trips from local towns established respect for the hardworking owner. Many of the homeowners with lilac bushes in Boxford, North Andover, Georgetown, Groveland, Rowley, Byfield and beyond can literally trace their roots to King’s Tree Farm and Nursery.
The farm is located off Route 133 (Washington St.) just past Paisley’s Greenhouse as you head West on 133 after leaving West Boxford Village. The actual address is 217 Washington street, but the vibrant signs will guide you.
