Book Sale Donation Drop Off Saturday, Sept. 12 10 AM -1 PM Old Town Hall Building 491 Main St. West Newbury Do you have books to donate? Wonderful! Our guidelines are simple: Yes, please to new, gently used, children’s and young adult, fiction, puzzles and games, gardening, cookbooks, travel & nature, art & science, history & biography. No, thank you to the mildewed & smelly, no magazines, no encyclopedias, textbooks, or reference materials. VHS are not accepted. Preparing with a Purpose: An End-of-Life Planning Monday, Sept. 14, 5:30-7:30 PM Planning ahead is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can offer your loved ones. In this workshop, Sarah Gladstone, Death Doula and End-of-Life Planner, will guide you through the basic steps of documenting your wishes and understanding your options. Whether you’re planning for yourself or supporting a family member, this workshop provides practical tools and a compassionate space to get started. During this workshop, we’ll explore: Advance Directives, The role of the Health Care Agent, How to start the conversation with your loved ones, Ways a Death Doula can support individuals and families in their planning.Participants can expect a short presentation, Q&A, and take-home materials to begin their planning. Documenting your wishes offers peace of mind and gives your loved ones clarity about what matters most to you. About the Presenter: Sarah Gladstone is a Death Doula, End of Life Planner, and Grief Guide with Human Condition Death Care. RSVP required.
Dungeons & Dragons Campaign Wednesdays Sept. 16, 23, & 30. 4:30-6:00 PM Come join our quest! New players are always welcomed. Play one of our ready made characters until you have made one for yourself. We can help you through that process. All abilities and characters welcomed, this is a friendly and laid back game with room for creativity.
West Newbury Library Fall Book Sale! Twice a year the Friends of the Library hold a sale of used adult and children’s books, puzzles, DVDs, etc. at the Old Town Hall Building across from the Library (491 Main Street, West Newbury). Weds. 9/16, 3-7 PM (West Newbury residents only night) Thurs. 9/17 & Fri. 9/18: 10 AM-5 PM, Sat. 9/19, 9 AM -12 PM.
Virtual: Author Heather Wolf Discusses Fall Bird Migration – Seas, Skies & Land Monday, Sept. 21 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM Join Heather Wolf, author of “Find More Birds: 111 Surprising Ways to Spot Birds Wherever You Are”, as she discusses what we can look for with Fall migration happening right now! Come with your questions because, as always, Heather will share beautiful pictures but we’re also keeping plenty of time for Q&A. We hope you can join us for another great discussion! Family Story Time Tuesdays Sept. 22 & 29, & Friday 25 from 10:00 – 10:30 AM Let’s have fun listening to stories, singing songs, doing fingerplays, and playing a game. Free play after the story time is encouraged. You can make your craft in the library or pick up a craft kit and create something at home. Please drop in, best for ages infant to six years old.
Family LEGOS! Wednesday, Sept. 30, 4:00 – 5:00 PM We provide the Legos and you bring your imagination. We will display the creations until the next LEGO day. Families are welcome. Drop in for 5 minutes or come for the whole hour. No registration, just pop on by.
Intro to Line Dancing! Monday, Sept. 28 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Join us at the Old Town Hall, across from the Library, to learn some line dancing steps (no cowboy boots required), but you might want to bring along a friend. Kathy Spironis leads the way in this fun, easygoing program. Generously funded by the Friends of the West Newbury Library.
