Georgetown Residents and Voters:
I’m writing to share that I am endorsing Rob Hoover and Ed Dobie for the two Select Board seats on the ballot on election day, Monday, May 11—and I’m asking for your vote for both of them.
Ed Dobie brings the kind of financial expertise the Board needs right now. His extensive background in finance, combined with years of leadership on the Georgetown Finance Committee, gives him a practical, disciplined approach to managing the town’s fiscal challenges.
I’ve had the opportunity to serve alongside Rob Hoover for the past three years. With nearly two decades of service to Georgetown, in both elected and appointed roles, Rob has proven himself to be thoughtful, steady, and committed. He listens carefully, seeks out input, and takes the time to make informed, balanced decisions. Just as important, he approaches difficult issues with integrity and a genuine willingness to find common ground.
No candidate is perfect—but both Ed and Rob bring something essential: sound judgment, steady leadership, and a deep commitment to keeping Georgetown a great place to live.
Recently, we’ve seen unnecessary division in our community, driven by a small but vocal group resorting to unproductive rhetoric and personal attacks. That’s not the kind of discourse that moves Georgetown forward, and it’s not what should define our local government.
What we need most is stability, focus, and a forward-looking approach—and I believe Ed Dobie and Rob Hoover are the right people to provide it.
I’ll be supporting them on Monday, May 11, and I hope you will too.
Thank you
Douglas W. Dawes
