NEWBURYPORT – As if you didn’t know why there are so many skeletons and black cats in front yards, Halloween is coming up on Friday night, and several events in Newburyport this week will brighten the festivities.

Trick or treating is permitted from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Several events are being coordinated by the Newburyport Arts Collective (NAC).
The Newburyport Public Library will hold its final Scary Movie matinee on Friday, Oct. 31. The screening is free and open to all. For more information, visit newburyportpl.org.
At the Firehouse Center for the Arts, The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be shown on Halloween night. Each ticket includes participation items such as toast and toilet paper, following tradition. Details are available at firehouse.org.
Also at the Firehouse, Comedy of Horrors will run from October 31 through November 2. The show, written by Jack Neary and presented by Acting Out Newburyport, features teen and adult performers. Learn more at firehouse.org.
NAC is a group of local arts organizations working together to strengthen and promote the city’s arts community.
