During the weekend of August 2–3, 19 riders from Amesbury will join more than 6,800 cyclists in the 46th Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a two-day bike-a-thon across Massachusetts, with the goal of raising $76 million for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Dana-Farber). The PMC is the nation’s single most successful athletic fundraising event, having raised over $1 billion for Dana-Farber since its founding in 1980. In 2024, the PMC raised a record-breaking $75 million.
Every dollar raised by PMC riders goes directly to Dana-Farber to support innovative cancer research and patient care, accounting for 66 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. As Dana-Farber’s single largest donor, the PMC has helped fuel decades of breakthroughs, including Dana-Farber’s pivotal role in the development of over half of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA from 2018-2022.
Each PMC Ride Weekend, cyclists come together from all corners of the world to pedal anywhere from 25 to 186 miles and raise as much money as possible for Dana-Farber. Most ride in honor of loved ones fighting cancer, and more than 1,100 riders and volunteers are cancer survivors or patients themselves – considered Living Proof® of the PMC mission. There are also 160 Dana-Farber employees committed to the cause as riders and volunteers, in some cases to fund their own cancer research.
