Greetings,
I am Mike Donahue and I am running to serve the community on the Georgetown Board of Selectmen. I am on Facebook at https://tinyurl.com/mikeforselectboard or search “Mike Donahue for Select Board.”
About Me:
I am a Massachusetts native and Noelle, my wife, and I have lived in Georgetown for the last five years. We have two children in the Georgetown Public School system. Jackson, age 12, is a 7th grade student at Georgetown Middle High School and our daughter Emerson, age 7, is a 1st grade student at Penn Brook School.
My younger brother proudly served with the U. S. Army and is a West Point graduate. Veteran’s hold a special place with me. Without your dedication and those who served before you we would not have the freedoms our forefathers struggled for. I thank you for serving our nation.
I have over 20 years of experience in Banking Operational Risk Management, Financial Crimes, and Fraud as well as in law enforcement. I hold two business degrees and am a Certified Fraud Examiner.
My Service to the Community:
Chair of the Georgetown Parks & Recreation Committee
Georgetown Community Preservation Committee (CPC)
School Council for the Georgetown Middle High School
Georgetown Public School Advisory Committee
As Chair of Parks & Recreation, we have brought the team into:
Compliance with Open Meeting Law and informative Meeting Minutes
Negotiated a community parks service/maintenance agreement with the Highway Department
Organized a Bonfire event for the families of Georgetown
In addition, as a member of CPC we have been able to replace the lights at the American Legion Park Baseball field and will be upgrading the Bandstand electrical system as well.
Why I Am Running:
Advocate for an efficient, transparent, honest and supportive government accomplished through:
Advocate for establishing a Town Charter Commission
Advocate for Strong Police & Fire Departments
Support a Review of Town Government and Advocate for Efficiency Standards
Support Open and Transparent Government and Policies
Support Education, Administration, and Teachers by advocating for top flight curriculum and technology; Work closely with the Superintendent and School Committee for appropriate Chapter 70 funding
Ensure Georgetown remains a great place to live in, raise a family, and retire in
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
In addition to voting for me as Selectman, there is a proposed $6,000,000 Proposition 2.5% Override question. If passed it will mean an average 25% property tax increase. On a median-priced Georgetown home assessed at $750,000, a yes vote would equate to an approximate property tax increase of $2,000.
For more information on the Override please visit the Georgetown, Municipal FY26 Budget Portal (https://georgetownbudget.com).
I humbly ask for your support and vote in this upcoming election. If you would like to discuss any issues or ideas you have for our town, please do not hesitate to contact me – votemikedonahue@gmail.com.
Thank you for your time and consideration and please vote and let your voice be heard.
