Clement Huntington Dole, Jr., of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. He lived an adventure-filled 95 years.

Clement, better known as Pete, and belovedly as Bumpa, was born May 24, 1929 in Georgetown, Mass., to Clem, Sr. and Dorothy Dole. Georgetown is also where he met the love of his life, Gerry, whom he married in 1950. Pete and Gerry raised four children at their home on Pond Street, across from his parents’ farm, and Pete opened his butcher shop – The Meat Block – in town.

In 1977, Pete and Gerry headed north and built their dream home on a beautiful acreage in Camden, ME, where the family would gather for holidays and enjoy evenings on the porch. Here, Pete served as the meat department manager at the local IGA, tended to a bountiful garden, served with the Shriners, and was named Grand Master of the Masons.  In 2004, the Doles retired to Huntersville, NC.

Pete was an exceptional outdoorsman and hunter throughout his life and his prized trophies filled his home and amazed his grandchildren. His greatest prize was “Bill” – a snow white mountain goat from the Yukon – that he claimed on one of his many hunting excursions. He also loved snowmobiling, traveling across the U.S., the Atlanta Braves, fried clams, and ice cream.

Pete was preceded in death by his sister, Carol, and his daughter Catherine. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Geraldine Dole, their children: Russell Dole (Darcy) of Swanville, ME, Robin Hazen of Huntersville, NC, and Carol Dole of Scarborough, ME, son-in-law Stephen Byrnes of Cushing, ME, grandchildren: Jared, Peter, Susan, Benjamin, Dominic, Carrie, Zachary and Abby, great-grandchildren: Grady, Lucy, Sophia and Cooper, brother: Ronald Dole of Boxford, MA, many extended family members and dear friends.

Pete will be laid to rest near his hunting camp in Allagash, ME, at a private ceremony.
