NEWBURYPORT – The YWCA Greater Newburyport is excited to host its Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Breakfast on Monday, January 20, 2025. The event will feature Keynote Speaker: Katrina “Kat” Hobbs Everett. “Kat” is an anti-racist, activist, educator whose mission statement is to “Constantly Cultivate Community.” She made history as the first Black woman and first woman of color to be elected to the Haverhill City Council.
Internationally acclaimed poet and local Newburyport resident, Rhina P. Espaillat will share some of her original work at the event. The Nancy E. Peace Action Against Prejudice Award will be presented to Ghlee E. Woodworth in honor of her work.

Tickets for this year’s event are $10 for students/teachers and $20 for adults. Tickets will be available through January 16, 2025. The event will begin at 9:30 AM on January 20th at the Newburyport Senior Center.
