Newburyport Coral Society

On Saturday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 15 at 2:30 p.m. the Newburyport Choral Society, under the direction of Dr. Minji Kim, will perform a selection of beautiful holiday music exploring the themes of love, joy, remembrance, and spiritual connection. This year the performances will take place at Rupert A. Nock Middle School auditorium, 70 Low Street, Newburyport.
Entitled “Luminous Night” this festive Winter Concert program features the 120-voice chorus, piano and organ accompaniment by Dr. Kirsten Helgeland, as well as a string quartet and percussion instruments. Featured selections include a contemporary piece by Ola Gjeilo called Luminous Night of the Soul, Christmas carols arranged with rich textures by Alice Parker, A Jubilant Song by Norman Dello Joio, and seasonal favorites such as Feliz Navidad, Joy to the World, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
