Taxpayer Money Granted to Private Topsfield Fair

Tuesday September 17, 2024

TOPSFIELD  – Thanks to a $200,000 grant from the state Office of Travel and Tourism, the Essex Agricultural Society will upgrade a 90-year-old water pipe and continue to replace aging wiring at the Topsfield Fair.

State Rep. Kristin Kassner, D-Beverly, announced the grant last week.

Once the contract is signed with the state agency and the fair is over next month, the society will begin replacing the water pipe that extends from the rear of the arena to the cattle gate.

The electrical upgrade, which will transition from single phase to three phase wiring, will continue with the improvements coming in earnest next summer.

The fair at 207 Boston St. in Topsfield, opens Oct. 4 and ends Oct. 14.

Ticket prices for the 2024 Topsfield Fair are $20 every day.  Discounted admission tickets are available at www.topsfieldfair.org through October 3rd. General Admission discount tickets can be purchased for only $15 plus a $2.50 convenience fee.

Tickets are good any day during the Fair’s 11-day run.  A three-day pass, good any three days, is available for $42 plus a $3 convenience fee.  Children under eight are free with an adult admission ticket.

Discounted ride tickets are also available when purchased in advance at www.topsfieldfair.org.
