Don’t you just love seeing daffodils and flowering trees this time of year? We wait so long in New England for the chance to get into our gardens and make them beautiful. The West Newbury Garden Club will be holding its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 20 from 8:30-11:30 on the West Newbury Training Field. This is a fantastic opportunity to find a vast array of plants, grown in local conditions, priced reasonably, and selected for their suitability to a wide range of garden conditions. Whether the sun blazes all day upon your garden or shade cools it most of the summer, you will find what will work for you.
Each year, the list of plants offered at the sale changes slightly, but you can count on finding wonderful foliage plants and blooms of every color. We have plants from A to W and Y, allium and artemisia to weigela and yarrow. Other popular choices include baptisia, bee balm, cone flowers, Montauk daisies, euphorbia, globe thistle, ladies’ mantel, peonies, and roses. Need to cover a bare spot under a tree? Try pachysandra or hostas, myrtle or lilies of the valley. Want to attract pollinators and birds? We have an entire table dedicated to native plants and the experts to lead you through them.
And, when you purchase plants, you are not “seeding” only your garden, you are helping the future of our planet by supporting our scholarship fund which this year is providing $3,000 to two deserving students from the Pentucket School District who plan to study in college how to sustain and improve our environment. You can only win; see you on May 20th.
