Thursday November 03, 2022

NEWBURY — Who will get to play Elsa and Anna when Triton Regional High School performs Frozen on its own stage?

Natalie Safley, Triton’s new drama director, said Triton will represent Massachusetts, as one of only 51 high schools in the country to have permission from the Disney Theatrical Group to produce Frozen.

The production is scheduled for November 2023.

The competition among high schools was fierce with 300 high school theater programs vying to produce the musical. The show, popular with all ages, was nominated for Tony Awards in three categories.

Triton is partnering with the Musical Theatre International and the Educational Theater Assn. as well as Disney Theatrical Group.

The performance space is limited to a capacity of 500 audience members per show. The high schools will also receive a free digital script, score, 21-piece orchestration, free logo pack and free video licenses.
