GEORGETOWN — The Henri Smith Band will perform their New Orleans flavored music on Saturday, August 27th at 5pm on the front lawn of the First Congregational Church of Georgetown, located at 7 Andover St. in the heart of Georgetown. Henri Smith, grew up playing and singing in New Orleans, but relocated to Boston’s North Shore after Hurricane Katrina destroyed his home there.
The concert is an experiment for the First Congregational Church, by not charging an admission fee, but will encourage a free will offering to help cover costs. There will also be grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and desserts, again at no cost but a free will offering. All money collected above expenses will be donated to the Georgetown Youth Community Center which provides a safe, supportive environment for the town’s youth to congregate, learn and interact with peers.
