HAMILTON — Governor Charlie Baker will join State Representative Lenny Mirra at The Community House in Hamilton on Tuesday, August 2nd, for a reception in support of his campaign for re-election. Representative Mirra has been serving the 2nd Essex District since 2013, a district that now includes Georgetown, Hamilton, Ipswich, Newbury, Rowley, and Topsfield.
“I am excited to rally support for our campaign alongside the Governor in Hamilton. It has been an honor to work with Governor Baker over the past 7 years on our pandemic recovery, economic development, education excellence and regional school transportation, and local environmental initiatives,” Mirra said. “It has been a wonderful experience to meet the new residents of the 2nd Essex District, and they can rest assured that I will continue to bring a common sense, business-oriented perspective to Beacon Hill, much like Governor Baker. Service over politics.”
Governor Baker and Representative Mirra have been close allies at the State House, with both being widely recognized for their bipartisanship and consensus-building approaches to legislation. Baker stands as one of Mirra’s strongest supporters, often citing Mirra’s work ethic, steadfast commitment to his constituents, as well as the perspective he brings to the table as a former small business owner.
Representative Mirra was first elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2012. Since then, he has represented the Second Essex District, including the communities of Boxford, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Merrimac, Newbury, and West Newbury. Following redistricting in 2021, Mirra’s district now includes Georgetown, Hamilton, Ipswich, Newbury, Rowley, and Topsfield. Mirra is a small businessman and a father of two. He has never missed a vote during his time in the State House and he has taken a pledge to reject all special interest and political action committee money.
