The Georgetown Municipal Light Department (GMLD) has produced its first-ever historical calendar for its rate payers which features pictures from Georgetown’s past. A limited number of calendars are now available at the GMLD business office, 94 Searle Street, and at the Georgetown Peabody Library, Senior Center, and the Town Hall, while supplies last.
“We are happy to produce this inaugural calendar and are grateful to the Georgetown Historical Society for providing the pictures on each page throughout the calendar,” GMLD General Manager Mary Snow said. “This is an exciting project that we know will become a much-sought after item.”
The 2026 calendar contains historical photographs, including the B&M railroad station in the mid-1800s, a streetcar traveling over the Weston Trestle, and the Brocklebank House in the early 1900s, among other points and events of interest. The calendar also provides tips on how to save energy throughout the year. ♦
