GROVELAND – Winter doesn’t have to mean staying home or feeling disconnected. At the Groveland Council on Aging (Groveland COA), January and February are filled with reasons to get out, gather, and enjoy time together—whether that’s through a shared laugh at the movies, a moment of calm and creativity, or a welcoming space to simply show up.
This winter, the Groveland COA is offering programs that feel easy, inviting, and meaningful. From Movie Mondays and community lunches to relaxed outings and social gatherings, winter programming is designed to make the colder months feel warmer and more connected.
There are also opportunities to slow down and recharge. January programming includes a Memory Café Sound Bath on January 12, a gentle, sensory-based experience for individuals with memory loss and their care partners—an example of how the COA creates space for calm, connection, and care alongside social fun.
Staying active remains part of the winter rhythm at the Groveland COA. Programs such as Drums Alive—a fun, music-based movement class using stability balls and drumsticks—along with ongoing fitness and yoga classes, offer accessible ways to move, stay energized, and connect with others throughout the season. Transportation support is available to help Groveland residents take part with ease.
“Connection isn’t a luxury—it’s essential, especially in winter,” said Alyssa Lee, Director of the Groveland COA. “Our work is about creating spaces where people feel comfortable showing up, asking questions, having fun, and planning for what’s next.”
As the Groveland COA looks ahead, community voice continues to guide its work. Residents are invited to share feedback through the Living & Aging in Groveland community survey, available online through the Town of Groveland website or by contacting the Groveland COA for a paper or phone option.
Most programs are free or low-cost, and programming is open to Groveland residents and individuals from surrounding communities.
