GEORGETOWN – Georgetown’s Rene J. Gagnon American Legion Post #211 sponsored Georgetown resident Ricky DiChicco as their candidate to the 2025 Massachusetts Boys State program run by the Massachusetts Department of the American Legion.
The program is committed to helping students develop a strong sense of civic responsibility while providing them with the tools to contribute to their communities. Seminars on local and state government along with recreational activities are provided during the event.
Ricky recently met with Post #211 officers including Commander Doug Dawes, Vice Commanders Joe Soucy and Steve Denno, and Adjutant Nick Feitz and shared his experience.
“Boys State was such an eye opening experience. I truly believe that the friends I made during that week will last the rest of my life,” Ricky related.
“I met many influential and important people and learned so many valuable lessons about topics I didn’t expect,” he explained. “I want to become an architect and being able to connect the dots between my future career and the lessons being taught at Boys State took a few days, but when I did I realized just how important this trip was. I can’t thank you enough for sponsoring me to go on this amazing trip.” ♦
