Our own John Manning will present the program for the August meeting: “Artillery in the Civil War from Ft. Sumter to Apomattox.”
Technology rapidly advanced in the mid-nineteenth century and John will discuss both land and naval artillery, the good, the bad and the dangerous, which played important roles in the four-year conflict.
John Manning is currently the president of the CWRT of the Merrimack, but has been a life-long student of history, devouring books and learning about participants in historical events from both sides.
