Russell E. Hoffses, age 81, peacefully passed away on April 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Rowley.
He was born on September 3, 1943, in Presque Isle, ME to Llewellyn F. and Margaret C. (Dicker) Hoffses.
The oldest of three children, Russ and his brothers spent their youth in the countryside of Northern Maine. He graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1961 and later served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in South Korea in 1962.
Family was everything to Russell. He married Pamela (McLean) Hoffses on July 30, 1966, after a fateful blind date, and together they raised two children, Bonnie and Robert. Their home became the heart of a multigenerational family, filled with laughter, stories, and love. At the time of his passing, Pam and Russ were just shy of celebrating 60 years of marriage.
Russell was deeply respected by all who knew him -remembered as selfless, dependable, and quietly devoted. These traits defined both his family life and his career. He spent over 40 years as a dedicated truck driver for Pepsi, a role he took pride in.
In his free time, Russ enjoyed hosting family poker nights, going on Caribbean cruises, playing cribbage with his daughter at the Mapleton Days celebration in his hometown, and, most of all, spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was also an avid member of the Rowley Snow Surfers Snowmobile Club.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; daughter, Bonnie (Paul) Ross of Ipswich; son, Robert (Jessica) Hoffses of New Portland, ME; and five grandchildren: Melissa Hoffses of Salisbury, Brendan Hoffses (Nina Struyde) of Ipswich, Matthew (Kerri) Ross of Shirley, Michaela Ross (Robbie Stokes) of Ipswich, and Kyrianna (David) Kennedy of Port St. Lucie, FL. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, William and Joshua; his brother, Dennis (Myra) Hoffses of Mapleton, ME; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and younger brother Jeffrey.
A private celebration of Russell’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a cause close to your heart.
