Derek McGregor

Tuesday May 06, 2025

Derek McGregor passed away in a unexpected and tragic accident on April 20, 2025, in Salisbury, MA.

Born on April 28, 1981, in Rowley, MA, Derek was a man whose life was marked by his generous spirit, creative talents, and the joy he found in working with his hands.

His passion for creating led him to establish the Custom Decal Shop, where he became known for his exceptional ability to craft custom signage for boats, trucks, and a myriad of other surfaces. Derek was an avid boater and fisherman, embracing the serenity and excitement of the sea. He had a knack for building things, a testament to his handy nature, and he was always ready to lend his skills to friends and family whenever they were in need.

He leaves behind his parents, Douglas and Patricia McGregor, his sister Heather McGregor, and his niece Talyciah Arrington. His extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins will remember him fondly, as will his special friend, Karen Colette and her children, and the many wonderful friends who were like a second family to him.

As we reflect on Derek’s life, let us not dwell on the sorrow of his untimely departure but rather celebrate the indelible mark he has left on our hearts and our community. His legacy is one of passion, dedication, and the joy of creation. It is a call to each of us to embrace our own talents, to contribute to the world in our unique way, and to cherish the bonds of family and friendship. Derek’s life reminds us that every day is an opportunity to make a positive impact, to build something lasting, and to live with a generous spirit.

Let us honor his memory by living as he did—with hands ready to create, hearts open to give, and eyes always looking for the beauty in the world around us.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Calling Hours on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley.  A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel.
