Newburyport Police Seek Information After Pedestrian Was Struck by Vehicle

NEWBURYPORT – City Marshal Matthew Simons reports that the Newburyport Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Low Street.

Officers were called to the area of 232 Low St. around 3:12 p.m. Friday, April 18, after reports of a pedestrian being struck.

Upon arrival, officers found an elderly woman, approximately 75 years old, laying on the ground. She had sustained facial lacerations and a significant shoulder injury.

According to a preliminary investigation, the woman was struck while in a crosswalk by a black Toyota Highlander. The operator of that vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

The injured woman was transported to a hospital in Portsmouth, N.H.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Newburyport Police are seeking witnesses to this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 978-462-4411, ext. 1.    ♦
