IPSWICH — Fire Chief Paul Parisi reports that the Ipswich Fire Department extinguished a working fire in a commercial building on Mitchell Road.
On Wednesday, June 12, at about 11:14 a.m., the Ipswich Fire Department received a commercial fire alarm activation at D&D Manufacturing, 49 Mitchell
Road.
Ipswich Police Patrolman Pat Carlin was first to arrive and discovered smoke showing from the building.
Upon arrival, Engine 2 found smoke showing and a fire burning in an HVAC unit in the ceiling of a manufacturing space leased by C&C Fabricating. The fire alarm was sounding and the building was evacuated.
Engine 2, under the command of Lt. Pat Dingle, stretched a hose line into the building and knocked down the fire. A primary search was conducted. Off-duty
and call firefighters from Ipswich, along with mutual aid firefighters, overhauled the building to ensure the fire was completely out. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. There were no reported injuries.
A portion of the building was closed following the fire. Chief Parisi estimates damage to the building at about $50,000. The property is owned by K Three
Realty, LLC and is assessed at $1,073,600.
The Rowley Fire Department provided mutual aid at the scene. ActionEMS was on standby, and the Rehab 5 truck provided rehabilitation support for
firefighters at the scene. Firefighters from Topsfield and Essex covered Ipswich stations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ipswich Fire Department but is not considered suspicious.
